Feedback from my article Homeless Joe
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
.TsungChi7/23/2009 4:11 AM PDTWow....great. You do a good job of establishing Rodney Square as a place for folks who have lost jobs/insurance, vs. the more traditional homeless situation of mental illness, drugs, and so on.
This is the strongest bit here:
You may have a job and a home, a wife and kids now. You may have a measure of security too, but god forbid you loss your job, home wife or you become sick and your benefits or insurance runs out and the list goes on. Know why? Because you might be sitting right beside me here on this bench in Rodney Square just like the rest of us.
May help to offer one more sentence about how you came to Rodney Park, just to add to the overall tone and depth of your story.
And, this is the only bit that seemed out of place?
"All the while millions, or should I say billions are spent helping people who hate this country."

Java Poignant. Succinct. You have a very strong voice and unique style. You have exposed a truth many of us refuse to face: Being homeless is only part of a larger problem. Have you thought about using dialogue to communicate some of the brilliant ideas in your piece?

.andiriley6/29/2009 6:38 AM PDT i can totally agree with all that, and its so true, brilliant!!

.BigDaddyCash7/22/2009 1:03 AM PDTI hear, I feel and I get the message. Homeless Joe, you tell a powerful remarkable story, but for the grace of God there go I.
If what you've written here doesn't get the message across nothing will. Bravo and two thumbs up. LOL, BDC

.jjbellinski6/28/2009 10:09 PM PDTI salute you S. A. Gibbins. This is one of the most heartfelt stories I have read here on WEbook and it's the truth. Thank you for posting it here. There were a few minor typos, etc., here and there, but they are far outweighed by the power of this beautifully written testimony. God bless you my friend. This is a wonderful message.
